Flashback Friday: Mothering with Spiritual Power by Debra Woods

Share it Please
Genre: Self help/LDS

Review: This book bases it's inspiring advice off of twenty five scriptures from the Book of Mormon. It shows that the answers to parenting questions and challenges can be found in the scriptures.

One of my favorite things that this book taught me is that I need to live in the moment. When I'm doing something with my children I need to pay attention to what we're doing and focus on us playing... Candy Land or whatever. I shouldn't be thinking about the mound of clean laundry I need to fold or that history paper that I need to write for school or the pile of dishes in the sink. I need to be focusing on my children and the time that I spend with them because that moment won't come back.

This was just an amazing book with many awesome insights that I hadn't thought about before. I am so grateful that I read this book.

Author: Debra and her husband are the parents of five children so I think she's had plenty of experience to write a book about parenting. ;) She also has a BBA in accounting from the University of Texas and continued on to a CPA. She is a mother first and a freelance writer/author second. You can read more about her at her website.

Rating: ***** Five Stars

That totally does not surprise me. :) This really is an awesome book! I completely agree. ;)Maybe we could do a class on this.... how scriptures help us as moms and not just how to teach them to our children.... =o)
