Genre: Children's Picture Book

Review: A peddler calls out, "Caps For Sale! Fifty cents a cap!" as he walks up and down the street. One day, hungry and tired, he decides to lean against a tree and take a nap. When he wakes he discovers all of his hats are missing except for his very own checked cap.

This is such an adorable children's book. It is humorous and simple so young readers understand it and love it. My children had me read this book over and over and over again.Collin, my 5 year old, says that this book was awesome. My 3 year old enjoyed it as well. :)

Learning moment: Some vocabulary words we got from this book - refreshed, peddler, and stamped. We were also able to work on directions -- right and left. Both of my kids still get confused with those. We also played "monkey - see, monkey - do" after reading this book. Tons of fun for the little kids!! =o)

Author: Slobodkina was born in 1908 and spent her childhood in Siberia but later immigrated to China where she studied art. In 1929 she immigrated to the U.S. She was a talented painter, sculptor, designer, author-illustrator, and teacher. She had 24 published works but Caps For Sale is considered a children's classic. She lived until July 21, 2002.

Rating: ***** Five Stars (per Collin)

One of my all time favorite kids books!! I would make my mom read it over and over again too, lol. Venice's preschool read it last year, and then acted it out at "graduation".
