Review: Jai and Kaahi meet in college, fall in love, marry and move to the US. India separates into North and South India due to government tension and Jai and Kaahi must check on their families but one is sent to the North and the other is sent to the South. Will India be whole again? Will they all learn to live with one another if they are on different sides of the divide?
This was a simplistically written story that I, honestly, would not have read if the author hadn't asked me to. Now that I have, I am very grateful that I did. It took me a little while to get used to the style. Parts of it were in a different language and the translation was next to it in parenthesis. There were also little informational tidbits throughout that helped to clear things up for people like me who really don't know that much about India. At first all the information was annoying but then I found myself looking forward to the extra information included in the book. They should start writing history text books this way. I may want to read them then. ;) Along with being educational this was also a very moving story that kept me turning page after page from the first chapter.
Author: This author prefers to remain anonymous, known simply as "an Indian". All I know is that he came to the US from India in 1989 and lives in L.A. with his wife and two children. To learn more about the book please visit the website here.
